School solar system for Moanataiari School

By SkySolar

Moanataiari School in Thames have been running on fresh and stored sunlight with their new school solar system, designed and installed by SkySolar.

Designed to reduce power costs and improve the school’s energy resilience during power cuts. SkySolar are proud to be chosen as the supplier for Moanataiari School’s solar system, with the design, installation and ongoing upgrades of the system being part of our scope of work.

SkySolar is a big supporter of solar for schools and we have had the pleasure of designing and installing several school solar systems around the country, including Riverview School in Kerikeri. We can’t think of a better way of teaching the next generation about sustainable energy generation than having a physical example of it at their place of learning.

Slashing their energy costs, gives Moanataiari School more money to spend on educational tools.

The school solar system has been designed to be implemented in two phases, with funding from the latest Government solar power for schools program helping greatly with the cost.

“The area suffers from regular power cuts, so the school solar system with the battery we have helps keep the school running during those periods where the grid power isn’t available.”

David Brock, Principal

The Thames area has seen plenty of solar panels adorn local roofs lately, with A&G Price, just down the road from the school, having the country’s largest hybrid solar system installed in 2019. SkySolar were stoked to help A&G Price take the title of largest hybrid system in NZ. We’re just as stoked to see Moanataiari School up and running and seeing great savings already after just a few months of running.
